BG Faders CC 184-1 (F. Barras 25 not out, K. Rossouw 2-15) beat Elevation 104-8 (J. Farrell 23, J. Farrell 1-25)
After the disappointing collapse in 2023 the BG Faders were keen to make amends against Elevation and with a trophy at stake, which had never been retained by the previous winners, even more reason to play well. The opening partnership got things off to a flying start with M. Metson retiring on 20 from 17 balls and C. Latham with 20 from 16 balls. Not wanting to be upstaged C. Lindop came to the crease and having smashed his first 4 balls for 15 runs he managed to pick out the fielder at deep midwicket for the only blot on the BG Faders scorecard. The middle order of S. Chowdhury (19), R. Gregory (20), F Barras (25), S. Mackay (16) and D. Murari (14) all went on to retire or score double figures amassing a staggering 184-1 from 20 overs, which must be a Faders record. A far cry from 63 all out the previous year!
It was an uphill battle for the Elevation team who needed 9.25 runs an over to win, the opening pair got off to a steady start. However, the bowling duo of K. Rossouw and S. Chessell broke the opening partnership in the 4th and 5th over and removed No. 3 in the 6th. The bowling attack paired with excellent catches from S. Chowdhury, F. Barras and M. Metson kept the wickets falling and runs few and far between. There was a late surge from J. Farrell (23), M Black (22) and Prem (15), but the all-around game management from skipper T. Coates made sure the BG Faders stayed on top of this contest. Elevation managed to get a respectable 104-8 which would have convincingly won it for them last year. The Elevation Trophy changes hands once again!
Many thanks to the Elevation team for supporting this fixture and providing some outstanding post-match grub. We hope to see you next week for our first away fixture of the season at Repton School on Wednesday 22nd May.
