Chris Naylor, Rugby School’s Design Technician for 40 years, has unveiled a beautiful and highly practical new lectern for the Temple Speech Room. Crafted from solid oak and designed with exceptional attention to detail, the lectern is a testament to Chris’s skill and experience.
The project took six weeks to complete and features intricate router details and beautiful brass handles. But this lectern is more than just a piece of fine craftsmanship—it’s also a practical tool for speakers and event coordinators. It is equipped with castors, making it easy to move or reposition on stage, and includes a lockable cupboard to store items such as laptops, speaker notes, and other supplies.
Chris worked closely with the IT team to ensure that the lectern could accommodate electronic equipment, incorporating slots for chargers and even built-in microphones. Additionally, it has an adjustable top surface to suit speakers of varying heights and a cup holder to keep refreshments. All these functional elements are seamlessly integrated, preserving the lectern’s clean appearance.
Congratulations to Chris Naylor from everyone in the Rugbeian Community!
