Bilton Grange Society Golf Tournament 2023 results

Once the important business of the AGM and the cricket tea had been negotiated successfully, the 2023 golf competition teed off in glorious weather, which therefore provided no excuse whatsoever for the coarse play that was to follow.

The President made the first drive on the 1st, his ball falling just short of the green, but affording him the opportunity for a short chip and a putt to ensure that he won the hole and made the early running, keeping the honour of the drive until the 6th, when the wheels fell off his metaphorical gold buggy, as he recorded a triple bogey.

Anthony Day by this point was seeking to deploy the branches of local trees, and exploring the ample foliage either side of the fairway. On the 2nd, no fewer than six balls were found in the long grass, but none belonging to Anthony.

A late run from the Hon Sec saw him overtake the President by two shots, but there was still all to play for on the 9th and final hole. A strong tee shot and pitch from Tim gave David a putt to win the tournament outright, which he duly did, carding 42 to Tim's 43 to Anthony's 40something.
