DUFS 138-9 (K. Rish 39 not out, Fowler 2-4) beat the BG Faders CC 127-6 (C. Lindop 29 not out, H. Smith 2-8, A. Chatterton 3-29)
It was another beautiful evening for cricket and as the late spring sunshine beat down on the well-prepared pitch the visitors took to the crease. They started well as opener K. Rish made progress on his way to retiring on 30. The Faders who, despite the early runs, were tight in the field and started to take wickets with the pick of the bowlers H. Smith and A. Chatterton sweeping up the middle order. A couple of smart run outs helped on the way to taking 9 of the DUFS wickets. K. Rish returned for a cameo adding a further 9 runs to his score, the DUFS posting a respectable, but certainly attainable 138-9.
The opening pair of S. Chessell and D. Murari set to work and after batting themselves in put on an excellent opening partnership of 64 (D. Murari retiring on 28 and S. Chessell on 25). After a minor middle order collapse and inevitable scrambling for pads the Faders were steadied by C. Lindop who built a solid middle order 29 not out. A further push from T. Coates and A. Chatterton got the Faders close however, as light faded, and the sun set behind the sight screen the Faders fell short by 12 runs. An excellent evening of cricket by both teams and lots for the Faders to be pleased with and work on. Many thanks to the DUFS team for consistently supporting this fixture.
Now it’s on to Elevation on Tuesday the 14th of May @6pm.
