Mrs Barbara Crank (nee Thorburn) was Secretary/PA to Miss Audrey Machin, founding Headmistress of Homefield School and still has very clear recollections of her postwar service at Homefield after she had been in the ATS in Italy and Austria during the War. Barbara was born 2 January 1923 in Blackpool Lancs, youngest daughter of the Rev. Philip B. Thorburn and Edith E. Austin. Barbara and her neice, Jessica Milner Davis from Australia (who along with her younger brother and older sister attended Homefield in the early 1950s), visited the School a few years ago and enjoyed it very much.  Jessica has also donated some historical photos of Homefield activities.

Gareth Jones, Headmaster of BiltonGrange/Homefield and Tim Day, President of the Bilton Grange Society also sent cards to celebrate the happy day, for which Barbara's family in both Australia and the UK send their thanks.
