BG Faders CC 145-1 (M. Metson 22 not out, F. Barras 1-10) beat Dunchurch & Bilton CC 144-3 (D. Bek 22 not out, C. Latham 1-7)

A busy final week of term for the BG Faders saw them take on Dunchurch & Bilton CC who’s home ground is a stone’s throw from the Bilton Grange site. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first, a good choice on this wicket that had had almost 500 runs scored on it the day before and there were no signs of deterioration. Dunchurch got off to a steady start with the opening pair of D. Bek (22) and G. Evans (20) retiring. The Faders then turned to J. Jones (current BG pupil) for a bowling spell who managed to take the first Faders wicket caught by H. Gedye (another BG pupil) behind the stumps. Further wickets from S. Evans and F. Barras helped to slow the run rate slightly however the Dunchurch team pushed on through the middle order to reach a reasonable score of 144.

Undeterred by a required run rate of over 7 per over the BG Faders set to work with opener M. Metson smashing his way to 22 from 7 balls. Accompanied by H. Smith (20) at number 2, D. Murari (20) at 3 and R. Snowdon (21) at 4 the top order all retired with unbeaten scores. The middle order was linked together by H. Gedye who played some sublime square cuts. The only wicket for Dunchurch came in unusual circumstances as C. Latham (an extra for the D&B team) was called up to bowl. The batter offering a caught and bowled chance which was too good to miss leaving both batter (naming no names) and bowler rather sheepish! The final runs were made by S. Evans (21) and F. Barras (21) ably supported by H. Gedye who made an unbeaten 16. Yet another brilliant run chase from the BG Faders who now have 5 wins for the season.
