Earle Fund News |
Having completed a very busy Lent Term, a team of Bilton Grange staff gathered their energies to set off on a two day hike, as the first of three legs of a team triathlon raising money and awareness for the BG150 Earle Fund campaign. The team set off early for the first leg, covering just over 28km (slightly longer than planned!) over the course of the day. They managed to avoid the worst of the weather, timing their lunch to perfection as the rains came down. It was a very long day and the team spirit was crucial to keep everyone moving. The sight of the finish line (and the refreshments in the pub) were a very welcome sight!
There were a few aching legs as the second day dawned, but a few new faces, joining the walk for the second leg, this time approaching Rugby from the south, meant that spirits were high. Both legs kept mainly to the meandering canal paths, which despite some very boggy areas, meant that the terrain was, at least, flat. It could not have been a better day for a walk - the sun shone and we kept dry, finishing our 25k second leg in an average of 5km an hour over the course of the day. All in all, it was a fantastic was to begin the holidays, reminding us all how important it is to get out into the fresh air, and it felt good to have time to properly converse with colleagues. Next step is the team swim, involving pupils and staff and then the cycle leg, for staff and parents. More news on these to follow.
