Jon Chin (T 07-12) delivers a masterclass in Olympic Weightlifting

On Monday 6th November we welcomed Jon Chin (T 07-12) to the New Range Gym (NRG) to deliver a masterclass in Olympic Weightlifting. Jonathan is 4x English Champion in the 73kg weight category, current Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship Silver medallist and double British record holder alongside studying undergraduate medicine at the University of Bristol.  Jonathan took students in the LXX & DB through a practical coaching session looking at the Clean, part of one of the movements Jonathan performs in competition giving them world class advice on the movement and how to complete. Jonathan then showed off his power and speed in a live workout session on the Clean & Jerk.

At school Jonathan was more commonly known for his Athletic sprinting prowess, helping Town house to the sports day title, and competing in the headmaster’s invitational race. It was a hamstring injury caused by sprinting that first got Jonathan into Olympic Weightlifting.
