Racehorse Thank You Ma’am is the pride of The Posh Pundit Racing Club, yet after an astonishing six consecutive second-place finishes, the gelding had gained a reputation as one of the most talented—yet unluckiest—horses in racing.

Determined to turn the tide, nine-year-old Harry Adams, son of Rugbeian Rupert Adams (Sh 86-91), took matters into his own hands. He wrote a heartfelt letter to Her Majesty The Queen, expressing sympathy for her recent illness and explaining that their beloved racehorse had also been struggling. He politely asked if she might share some Royal luck to help change its fortunes.

Just two days before Thank You Ma’am’s next race at Ascot, Harry received a response from Her Majesty wishing them "Good luck." In front of a crowd of 20,000, the horse duly delivered—securing a well-deserved victory.

Thank You Ma’am has since returned to Ascot, finishing a respectable third. This time, The Queen’s letter arrived on the very day of the race, graciously accepting Harry’s invitation to become a member of The Posh Pundit Racing Club.

Her Majesty even attended Ascot herself, hoping to see Thank You Ma’am claim another victory. Perhaps next time, at Royal Ascot 2026, the stars will align once again!

Reflecting on this remarkable turn of events, Harry said:
"Thank You Ma’am has a Royal penpal now in the shape of Queen Camilla—it’s absolutely brilliant! And my teenage cousin Olive rides him so well."
