Rugbeian and Biltonian Charlie Robards (BG 87–89, Sh 89–94) has written a new book, Hitting AS for Six, which is now at print and available for pre-order.
The book follows Charlie’s experience of living with axial spondyloarthritis (axial SpA), a chronic and often invisible form of arthritis. It is set against his lifelong passion for sport, particularly cricket, and aims to raise awareness of the condition and funds for NASS (the National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society), the UK charity supporting those affected.
Rugby School and Bilton Grange feature prominently in the book, alongside memories of Queen’s Club, the MCC, Gray-Nicolls, and the David Mackenzie Foundation.
Charlie lives in Rugby, Warwickshire with his wife, Claire, and their two children, George and Grace. Despite living with axial SpA for over 30 years, he remains active, and is well known for his coaching, mentoring, and charity work.
Hitting AS for Six is available to pre-order now, with all proceeds going to NASS.
