Five Rugbeians marked 40 years since leaving Rugby School by tackling the southern section of Scotland's Hebridean Way.

Yode Delano (Tu 82-86), Christian Lax (Tu 81-86), Edmund Cheung (Tu 82-86), Ashley Coombes (Tu 81-86) and Edward Gimlette (Sh 81-86) walked from Vatersay to Berneray, crossing the islands of Barra, South Uist, Benbecula and North Uist.

Over six days, the group covered around 150 km, experiencing the unpredictable weather for which the Outer Hebrides are renowned. Some stages were completed in headwinds of up to 50 mph, accompanied by driving horizontal rain. On other days, the walkers enjoyed calm conditions and warm September sunshine, allowing them to take in the islands' striking landscapes.

The route took the group across sweeping beaches, causeways and remote coastal paths, providing plenty of opportunities to appreciate the unique character of the islands while catching up on four decades of life since leaving School. 

Completing the trek was a fitting way to celebrate an important anniversary. Forty years after leaving Rugby School, the five friends demonstrated the enduring value of the friendships formed during their time at School, combining endurance, camaraderie and a shared sense of adventure in a memorable challenge.
