In 2019 Rugbeian Arthur Price purchased a painting from a retiring artist called Melvyn Warren-Smith from Stroud, Gloucestershire, an oil painting of a girl/young woman painted c.1990. This was used as an original for the artwork for the cover of a romance type paperback novel.
The board on which it was painted was originally larger, so as to make room for the book title etc than that shown in our image. The artist painted the girl at Rugby School (he did others) and she was a pupil there. She was asked to dress in c. 1930’s clothes which she did. The Rugbeian Community is looking for more information on the painting and the subject within it and welcomes emails from any Rugbeians or former staff who may be able to help to RugbeianCommunity@rugbyschool.net
