Rugby School Japan News |
For the first time, Rugby School Japan (RSJ) proudly welcomed members of the Rugbeian Community to the RSJ campus. Guests were taken on a guided tour by four students, each representing one of the currently open houses: School House, Rupert Brooke, Sheriff, and Tudor. The tour showcased RSJ’s state-of-the-art facilities, including a preview of the soon-to-open Town and Southfield Houses. ORs were particularly impressed by the Black Box Theatre and the school gym.
Following the tour, a reception was held in the Oval, RSJ’s iconic rugby ball-shaped venue, offering the OR community a chance to connect with RSJ’s Senior Leadership Team and board, alongside current staff and parents.
The event honoured the courage of RSJ’s founding parents, many of whom enrolled their children before the campus was even completed.
As RSJ prepares to grow further this September, the evening marked a pivotal moment in the school’s development with the launch of RSJ’s transformative fundraising and debenture scheme, introduced by Founding Principal Tony Darby. The initiative, anchored in philanthropic the traditions of Rugby School UK, seeks to secure a vibrant future for RSJ through:
Scholarships and bursaries to increase access for students from diverse backgrounds.
Capital and enrichment projects to enhance learning environments, from labs and theatres to sports facilities.
Global partnerships and exchanges to foster global citizenship and empathy.
Speeches from Neil Hampton, CEO of the Rugby School Group, and Rob, President of the Rugbeian Community of Japan, reflected on the strength of the global Rugby community and RSJ’s continued evolution as a leading international school.
