Unveiling of the bicentenary rugby ball

The unveiling of the bicentenary rugby ball took place on Saturday 5 June 2023. The giant ball is positioned in Rugby town centre outside the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum. Children from around the world entered an art competition to have the chance of their piece of art, based on the theme of rugby football, being printed on this giant ball. The event was attended by many of the budding artists who were delighted to see their work in print. The ball was unveiled by Rugby Mayor, Maggie O’Rourke and Ian Holroyd from Wooden Spoon. Also in attendance were Rugby School representative Vicky Henderson, who organised the competition, as well as sponsors of the ball Phoebe Hilton from Rugby Art Gallery Museum and Tom Kittendorf from Rugby Borough Council.

The ball will be positioned outside the Art Gallery indefinitely
