Daf Gimblett (W 19–21) & Zulf Hoosenally (W 18–23): Founders of Zulfi Fabrics Share latest updates

Zulfi Fabrics was founded by Daf Gimblett (W 19-21) and Zulf Hoosenally (W 18-23), who met while at Rugby.

During his travels through India, Zulf discovered and collected a wide variety of textiles from across the country, developing a deep interest in the remarkable variation in style found even across small distances. Of particular note was the recycling of old materials purchased from individual families who weave in their spare time, providing economic participation for women in rural Kutch and giving otherwise unused fabrics a new life as jackets, bedspreads, or rugs.

Zulfi Fabrics now offers a broad selection of these pieces and more, including jackets, quilts, and bed throws. Guided by the principles of sustainable fashion, the business reflects a commitment to creating products that are thoughtful in origin and considerate in their impact.

Every item is handmade and ethically sourced in Rajasthan by skilled artisans who continue techniques passed down through many generations. Maintaining this close relationship with the makers ensures exceptional craftsmanship and respect for their skills. Each product is entirely unique, defined by its own character, pattern, and details.

In recent months, the business has continued to grow, with Zulfi Fabrics attending several Christmas fairs and events across the country. These have offered valuable opportunities to meet customers directly and to witness the strong response to the collection. The enthusiasm and interest shown have reinforced the founders’ commitment, and they remain passionate about expanding Zulfi Fabrics, broadening the range, and building on the momentum gathered.
