Will Butler-Adams (W 87-92) shares some fond memories of his time spent at Rugby School in the latest issue of 'Independent School Parent' magazine.
Nicknamed 'fizzy tonic' by the headmaster, Will clearly had a lot of fun during his time at school. Within the article he describes a prank that he played following a chemistry lesson where he created an explosion in house during the morning bell, he recalls the secret 'Nirvana' den in the loft as his favourite place to hang out, and he reveals the embarrassing moment on the rugby pitch that led him to be known as 'Mark' rather than Will during his time at the School. He takes the reader on a nostalgic journey back to break times, when the kitchen's industrial toaster would produce 'the finest toast, which we would then soak in butter.'
Will won the Dewar-Pilkington travel award whilst at Rugby, which helps students to travel before they head off to university. He is now Managing Director of Brompton Bicycle, and his advice to his school-age self would be 'don't be afraid to be different to others.'
