After 22 years as a dedicated groundsman at Rugby School, Terry Kennard is bidding farewell to his role. Over more than two decades, he has played an integral part in maintaining the Rugby School's beautiful grounds, and he will be greatly missed by colleagues and friends alike.
Terry has a deep love for wildlife, particularly birds, and his enthusiasm for birdwatching is well known among those who have worked with him. A keen member of the local birdwatching community, he has always been on hand to share insights about the species in the area. One of his most memorable moments was when a peregrine falcon nested on the church a few years ago.
An avid walker, Terry enjoys nothing more than a peaceful stroll around Draycote Water or Brandon Marsh, taking in the natural beauty and spotting wildlife along the way. Walking has always been a way for him to unwind after a busy week, and we have no doubt he will continue to enjoy many more countryside rambles.
Terry has also loved the special events held at the school, particularly the classic car gatherings, and last year’s celebrations marking Rugby School’s 200-year anniversary.
Outside of work, Terry is a keen fisherman and can often be found by the local canals on a sunny evening or fly fishing at Draycote Water. Another of his great passions is plane spotting – and those who know him well will recognise the familiar sight of him glancing skywards, even when there’s plenty to be done!
Terry has been an integral part of the grounds team at Rugby School and we hope to see him back on campus before long.
From all of us at Rugby School, thank you, Terry, for your years of dedication. We wish you all the very best for the future.
