Gareth Lloyd-Jones (M 79-84)

Gareth Lloyd Jones (M 79-84) began his career as an entrepreneur in 1985 when he bought into the Tie Rack franchise, building up a successful retail business operating from 17 central London locations over the next 11 years. From 1996 he developed the national Madisons coffee shop chain, before acquiring the London-based Richoux Restaurants in 2000 and the pub/restaurant business The Bel and the Dragon the following year.

Harnessing his leisure and restaurants expertise and experience, Gareth has worked as a non-executive director and corporate finance specialist advising on the development and subsequent sales of high street chains such as Prezzo, CI Traders and Wagamama.

Today he is the founder of a group of independently operated London pubs and has recently acquired a group of five Argentine steak houses, Buenos Aires Restaurants, with a view to developing the brand nationally.

Gareth, has two sons, Alexander and Matthew, and is married to Emma-Clare from whom he inherited three older step-children.  He lives in Henley-in-Thames and enjoys sport (mainly watching) and occasionally tinkling the ivories as a former winner of the Rugby School music composition prize!
