Jane Phelps joined the staff at Rugby from Benenden in 1992 to work on the co-ed programme. After a two-year term as Housemistress of School House, she opened Stanley as a sixth-form girls’ House, which she ran until 2007. Out of House, she was Head of HE & Careers, worked on the extended project programme and, among many other things, ran polo. She ‘retired’ in July 2010 and is now Director of External Relations at the New College of the Humanities in London.
