Nothing could have prepared me for the experience I had as an Arnold Foundation Student at Rugby School. It was unlike anything I had ever imagined. Yet, it turned out to be the catalyst for a series of transformative events that have shaped my life in profound ways.
Rugby School provided me with the tools and support to navigate the world ahead with ease. As the first person in my family to attend university, I was charting unknown territory. But the guidance and encouragement I received from teachers made the journey significantly smoother.
Career development sessions at Rugby proved invaluable as I pursued further education, eventually obtaining an MEng in Engineering from the University of Nottingham. This laid the groundwork for my career at KPMG, where I now specialize in technology auditing and work closely with senior executives. My first boss at KPMG was another influential character who understood my life story. Their support and mentorship challenged the usual assumptions about private school students and provided me with a platform to thrive.
Receiving a full boarding place through the Arnold Foundation had a monumental impact on my life. It not only prepared me for university and the working world but instilled in me a confidence that I didn’t previously have. The routines of prep time every evening provided structure and took away unnecessary worries, allowing me to focus on my studies and personal growth. This underlying confidence has enabled me to navigate various social and professional settings with ease.
As an Arnold Foundation student, I was afforded numerous opportunities to engage with people from diverse backgrounds, broadening my perspectives and honing my interpersonal skills. These experiences have been invaluable in shaping the person I am today, and I have formed bonds with friends that have lasted a lifetime.
