Alec Price to represent Scotland in U19 Cricket World Cup

Rugbeian Alec Price (K 19-23) has been selected to be part of Scotland's squad for the Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

The opportunity to trial for Scotland presented itself during Alec's final year at Rugby School, and his subsequent inclusion in the national 15-man squad is a testament to his talent and dedication.

Reflecting on the journey, Alec shared, “I was in my last year at Rugby School, and Scotland was having open trials. My teacher knew the Scotland head coach and asked me if I wanted to try out. That was about a year ago. I messaged my mum, and she encouraged me to do it, so it was a bit of a no-brainer for me. I went up there to an open training session, and it went well - and the rest is history.”

Alec's standout performance during Scotland's World Cup qualifying campaign earned him a spot in the squad. In just over 12 months, he has transitioned from an international hopeful to representing Scotland on the global stage in South Africa.

Expressing his excitement, he said, “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance and something we have to grasp.” Eager to make the most of this opportunity, he envisions a long and successful career with the Scottish cricket team. With skills both as an opening batsman and a spinner, Price is ready to contribute effectively to the team's performance in the upcoming tournament. He remarked, “I opened the batting for Scotland in the qualifiers, and that might be the way we go in the World Cup. I’m also one of the spinners, so I’m always in the game.”
