Maia Bouchier hits maiden century as England beat New Zealand to win ODI series

Many congratulations to Maia Bouchier (G 12-17) for her first international century, 100 not out, against New Zealand in England's OneDay victory yesterday.

Maia hit the winning runs in a chase of just 142 which also brought up her hundred from 88 balls. Bouchier hit 17 fours and added 73 for the first wicket with Tammy Beaumont in another one-sided contest that gave England an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

“They call them the nervous nineties for a reason,” said Bouchier after her coming-of-age performance. “I tried not to think too far ahead and it was nice having Nat as that calm voice. I’m just glad I came through.”

We suspect the only previous Rugbeian to achieve an international century was Pelham 'Plum' Warner (Whitelaw) who scored 132 not out in the first Test match against SA at Johannesburg in 1898! We stand to be corrected!
